I love to dance and dance has accompanied me my whole life. I began ballet when I was three years old, I also dabbled with tap dance, modern, and jazz in my younger years. At school I lead an after-school dance club for younger pupils where I would teach choreographies that I spent hours putting together. In my late teenage years and twenties I lived for going clubbing! I felt alive on the dance floor and, as Faithless rightly claimed: God Is a DJ, and boy did I worship them!

Fast forward to a few years ago, when I discovered ecstatic dance - a powerful and liberating form of movement that opened a new doorway for me into self-expression. Unlike structured dance styles, ecstatic dance invites you to move freely, without choreography or expectation, allowing your body to respond intuitively to music and your inner self.

In this space, there is no right or wrong way to move. A skilled DJ facilitates the journey, weaving together different musical genres and energies to create a continuous, immersive flow. As the music evolves, so does your movement, sometimes soft and fluid, sometimes intense and expansive. Each track is a new invitation to explore different facets of yourself. Everyone can take part in ecstatic dance - I have danced at events with people over 80 years old, with families, and where young parents carried their baby on their back!

I really like the combination of freedom and connection that ecstatic dance offers. Dancing barefoot (a dream!) in a comfortable and intimate environment, I can fully drop into my body, release tension, and connect with myself. At the same time, there is a shared energy on the dance floor, a sense of community and unspoken understanding that allows for deep emotional and spiritual connection with others. Those with their eyes open smile at each other as they dance by. It's like a moving meditation, where the mind quiets and the body leads.

When you move this way, emotions surface and move through the body, creating space for a deeper sense of presence. With each twist, swirl, and stretch, you grow in courage, learning to trust your body more deeply and express yourself more fully. In this process, you begin to step into your full potential as a dancer and as a whole, embodied being - grounded, authentic, and alive in your own unique expression.

When I dance, I feel my soul moving me.
